Yamaha R15 M discontinue

Yamaha to discontinue R15 M Variant following R2 Launch

  • R15 M Variant is priced closely to the newly launched R2 so this will make a choice bit easier for consumers
  • Limited stock bookings for R15 M are still being accepted by dealers

Yamaha is planning to discontinue the R15 M variant in India as the company is getting ready to streamline the R15 V4 line-up. Nearly five years after the launch of R15 and R15 M in September 2021 the company plans to discontinue the M variant following the launch of the new Yamaha R2.

Yamaha R2 carries a price tag of ₹2.41 Lakh (ex-showroom, Maharshtra) while the M variant retails at ₹2.55 Lakh (ex-showroom, Maharshtra). The about to be discontinued R15 M variant is priced at ₹2.02 Lakh (ex-showroom, Maharshtra). To make choice bit easier for consumers and forcing them to go for more powerful offering could be the reason that Yamaha has decided to make this move as pricing gap is very close in R15 M and newly launched R2.

As of now the bookings for R15 M are underway for the limited stock. There has been no official confirmation from Yamaha but multiple dealers suggests that in few weeks we may see an official statement regarding the discontinuation of the R15 M. The base variants of Yamaha R15 will continue to be on sale with and without quickshifters which comes standard on R15M. But customers have to say goodbye to the distinct R1M-inspired metallic grey/silver and black paint schemes. To get that distinctive colour they’ve to opt for Yamaha R2 M variant and that’s what Yamaha exactly wants.
